University of Sheffield continues to support refugees arriving under the resettlement scheme

The University of Sheffield has done some tremendous work building upon the city’s legacy of welcome as the very first City of Sanctuary. The university has joined forces with the Students Union, organising lectures, research, events, campaigns, and scholarships for refugees arriving under the resettlement scheme, at all different levels.

At the beginning of the academic year in 2015, the Vice-Chancellor and Sheffield University Students’ Union President pledged to all students that the university would openly support those who “particularly wish to be directly involved in support at this time”.

As part of this they have set up a shared information source online which details why and how the university and students support refugees, for all those who want to help, with lists of events and activities people can get involved with, as well as publications, research and news.
